[req] WiFi adapter XP Embedded Driver

I

.::[IchiGeki]::.

Hi there,

I need to add a wifi adapter to my XPE image, did you have some idea on what
kind of adapter I have to buy to have a 100% compatibility with XPE? Have
someone a good and tested componentized driver so I have only to buy the
right wifi
adapter?

Thanx alot

XPE=XP Pro as far as the binaries are concerned. Win32 Drivers should work
fine... as long as you have all dependencies included. Check out
www.xpefiles.com, to see if there are WIFI adapters have already had drivers
componetized for XPE... otherwise you can use CD to do one yourself.

Unfortunately I get some errors when I try to build a new component from the
..INF, so if there is something ready to be used....

Hi,

What errors?
They might be only warnings that you can ignore.

PS:
You might not need all of this. Since in most times simple file copy to right folder will do the job.

Hi KM,
Although, the simplest way to test it would defintely be copying all the
files to appropriate windows directory.

I tryed to do this but I get the BSOD
Btw, how the adapter and its driver behave on XP Pro?

Works fine!!! If i try to install the driver from the WiFi CD it doesn't
works too....

What BSOD number?

I tryed to build a driver with the Component Designer but I get 2 warings:

Warning:[ZD1201_50U.ndi.NTx86]: cannot handle key "Characteristics".
Warning:[ZD1201_50U.ndi.NTx86]: cannot handle key "BusType".

So the USB WiFi Adapter doesn't works and I get the classic yellow "?" on
the Device Manager.

First I get a window:

SAS window: winlogon.exe - Application error
The instruction at "0x00ee1fab" referenced memory at "0x00000019". The
memory could not be "written".

then I get the BSOD saying:

STOP: c000021a {FATAL SYSTEM ERROR}
The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a
status f 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.

Thanx

I do not follow you :-(

Please do not include support driver for WiFi.
Pass FBA. And them try manual WiFi install. Does it work?

When you make this work then try:
Just copy to pre FBA image driver files to correct folders.
Now try passing FBA.

In any case:
Tell us when you get this problem, during the FBA, before, after, etc.
Please give us fba.log and setupapi.log

Slobodan

You should answer Slobodan's questions in another branch of this thread.
But I was just wondering what you meant above.

Does the driver work on XP Pro? If it does, how did you install it?
When you try the driver on XPe, did you make sure to copy all the required files?
Did you check all the driver dependencies?

This link will unlikely help you but at least it shows absolutely the same BSOD message (with the same parameters)
