REQ: NEED URGENT HELP with HP XP

A friend of mine owns a Hewlett Packard pavilion 7915 and his grandson
started pushing buttons on a reboot and now it won't boot up! Just
wondering if somebody out there has the Advanced Utility Systems Recovery
Disk that comes on a floppy that can copy the the files and post them as a
RAR file, it would GREATLY be appreciated! If I can get it to boot I may be
able to go to systems restore, even if I try SAFE mode it still falls blank
with errors because of missing files? At least Win98 i can get into DOS and
correct the problem, but XP is a totally different from what i can tell and
what i've been told? What happened was, the unit was bought at a computer
show last month, late model, but used, it was set up for a network, on the
reboot it was searching for the network and the 15 year old started to
panic and started to push buttons, God only knows what keys he touched? On
a boot the screen say's (we Appolgize You Can Not Boot) I try to access
safe mode, actually I tried them all with no success? Thanks or any help!

Is it XP Home or XP Pro? You'll need the appropriate XP installation CD,
set the machine BIOS to boot from CD, and you'll porbably need to
perform a Repair install of windows. Don't do a default new install
unless you want to wipe out all data on the drive.

BTW, this is not a binary forum so people aren't supposed to post binary
attachments here.

ASR disk would not help you without a backup to re-load.
Hp has a recovery partition, try this

We both have been all over the net researching this problem with no luck
at all? It's a fairly new used computer with a Home Edition XP serial
number on the case, when he gets to the boot where he can repair,
install, etc. (at this point what ever he clicks on, repair, install,
etc. it locks up solid) it say's it is a Pro version, could be a bootleg
XP for all we know? He dosn't have a restore CD, neither a legit XP CD.
FFrom searching HP newsgroups, home page plus on top of all that we
havn't the slightest idea of what was done to this machine, what was
deleted, what they tried to install or uninstalled, what keys were
pressed, so on and so on? After many hours with no luck, him being a 98
diehard, a reformat and a win98 install. THANKS again for your help!
