REQ: How Can I Tell If My ROUTER FIREWALL Is Really Working?

I have a D-Link DI-704P router that supposedly has a built-in
firewall. I assume that its firewall is there and is doing its thing
without my doing anything. But how can I be sure? How can I tell?
