I have a machine running XP that says it has 224 MB of
memory. The memory chip says it is DDR256M233 (I assume
PC2100) memory. What is going on?

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like 32 MB is being diverted in the BIOS to use as Video RAM. Some
of the "budget" computer systems take a BIOS selectable chunk of installed
system RAM and use it for the built in video chip. Check your BIOS or your
motherboard manual.
