I've been reading up on virtual memory and what it does and I wanted to know what I should do to make my computer games run faster. Would increasing the virtual memory be efficient in accomplising this? And by how much? If not then do you have any suggestions to making them go faster? thanks.

My computer is pretty old. It has:
Windows XP
Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co. 7VM400M-RZ
Physical memory: 224 MB total-- 56 MB free
CPU Name: AMD Athlon XP
Video Processor: S3G KM400

welcome to PCR

Leave virtual memory to the OS and let it do it's own thing, I don't care what other people may have said, you will not really do any better.

How to make a PC run faster ...

Enter it in the 100 yards race
Paint on "go-faster" stripes
Add more ram. ;)

I'm with Mucks on this :) Windows does a good job at managing it's virtual memory, and adding more that it needs could even slow it down. You're not going to be able to make games run much faster on that PC without upgrading it unfortunately.
