replacing NT4.0 PDC with Win2K AD

I walked in to this little dilemma after a battle between the old Admin and the Owner. Now we have a nifty new system(Dell 2600) running Win2K server(stand alone) and an NT 4.0 as the PDC. My objective is to replace the NT4.0 PDC with the Win2K server.

I have never done anything like this before. Does anyone know a good starting point?

You can do an in place upgrade by upgrade the NT4.0 PDC with Windows 2000
Server, or Install Active Directory at the stand-alone server and migrate
over accounts , groups and computers with ADMT (Active Directory Migration
Tool)

You can either migrate to Win 2k
See:

Or you can upgrade to Win 2k. To upgrade you must upgrade the PDC first.

You might consider removing Win 2k from the member server and installing NT
4.0 on it as a BDC while connected to your domain, promote to PDC then
upgrade to Win 2k.
