NT PDC and Win2k DC on same network

Can I add a new server to my NT 4.0 network, loading it
as a windows 2k server and as the first DC, with a NT PDC
already on the network? How then do I get rid of the NT
PDC and have all the clients use the new Win2k server to
authenticate?

No!

You must upgrade the WINNT 4.0 PDC to WIN2000 before you can add any
additional WIN2000 Domain Controllers. By upgrading the WINNT 4.0 PDC (
please not that it must be the WINNT PDC.....do not do this on a BDC ) to
WIN2000 you will maintain all of your user account and group account
objects. You could then add an additional WIN2000 Domain Controller to your
domain.

If you were to install WIN2000 Server on a machine and dcpromo it you would
be creating a new, completely separate domain. Not what you want.

Cary
