Replacing DVD writer

T

Trevor

I want to replace a duff
DVD/CD writer in an old computer.

Will any DVD writer currently for sale work?
According to Belarc advisor, this is what is there at the moment.

Any PATA/IDE DVD burner should work just fine - provided you have the
jumpers correct at the rear of the drive.

Make sure you get an IDE drive, not a SATA drive, and match the jumper
settings with the old drive when you install it.

Why ask here? What DVD/CD writer you pick has NOTHING to do with the
OS and is just personal preference.

Ask elsewhere

It seems he never has anything useful to add to a post, so I guess he sees
this as helping others, does it quite a bit.
Apparently he can't figure out the purpose of the hardware group.

So DVD drives are not hardware in your opinion? neither is an OS "hardware".

Moron
NO, the MORON here is you - as you can't look at the group title and
infer what the title is talking about: XP and it's interaction with
hardware. WHAT DVD unit you pick has NOTHING to do with the OS.

Sure I can, but THIS group is about XP and it's interaction with
hardware - and this thread has NOTHING to do with that.

Read the OP. You obviously need a lesson in comprehension. If that word is
too big for you to understand, look it up in a dictionary.
He was asking "will any drive work IN XP"

Moron.

as I said - your COMPREHENSION "skills" are abysmal. Why bother answering
posts you obviously don't understand?

I'd kill file you but I always get a kick out of your dumb ass replies, why
deprive myself of some amusement.
Your getting close to reaching Andrew E. status.

You're making that up.

The title WindowsXP.hardware is pretty specific, as opposed to
Vista.hardware_devices or Win2000.hardware. And since the purpose is to
discuss Microsoft products, it follows this is the one to discuss XP and
the hardware it interacts with. Please see the posted rules below and
see how it reads to you.

At leas I understand the posts DON'T BELONG HERE. You don't even
understand that much, meaning your advice is even more worthless.

Wait, let me guess: are you Cletus from the Simpson's Movie? The guy
they used to test whether an idiot could get to the lake to dump his
trash?
