Replacement for MSN Messenger

I

Ian Edmont

Hi

Can anyone please suggest a very simple replacement for MSN Messenger
client. It needs to be the most simple client without all the bells and
whistles - just a window which will allow me to send and recive
messages. I need it to use on a shared computer so don't want to use
anything like Miranda or GAIM where you have to pre-configure accounts.
I like the idea of the new MSN Messenger not 'remembering' the last
logged on user account. Is there something available would ayone know?

Many thanks.

Ian Edmont.

Based on your subject alone, I was going to suggest GAIM or Miranda, but
that was before I read your entire post.

However, most clients I can think of (including GAIM) has an option of
whether or not you want to remember your password. I can't see why you
need much more than that. I personally use GAIM on a lot of different
computers and under different operating systems, and I have had no
problems with guests wanting to chat on MSN on one of my setups using GAIM.

If you really want zero setup, you may want to look into some web-based
MSN client. I have no personal experience with any of those, but I know
they exist.

Unless you have a drive 'L' in which case the GTK files that are
included with the latest release show up a false 'drive empty' error
message every time you start it up. Shame, as GAIM is probably the best
I have tried. Using Trillian now.

Try www.meebo.com - highly recommended.

try trillian or integrity messengers, although both allow to auto
login, you can set it up not to.

I'd definitely suggest you try out Miranda:

http://miranda-im.org/

It's extremely customizable using plugins, and you can strip it down
as much as you like.

Try TerraIM doesn't install itself. Compatible with ICQ and AIM
