Replace Domain Controller

D

DC

I have only one domain controller running Windows 2000
server standard
edition. Recently I need to replace it with with better
performance server.
Beside those five Operations Master and Global Catalog
need to transfer to
new server, is there anything else need to be done prior
to demote the old
server? Please help. Thanks.

Hi DC

This should do it. You just want to make sure that replication has taken
place and the new server has a good copy of the AD and SYSVOL. Where does
DNS live? That's possibly also important.

What about DNS and DHCP?

What about leaving the "old" machine in place and moving the FSMO's to the
"new" server?? Having a single DC is not a good idea..... If it crashes, you
could lose the entire domain......
