Repetative tasks and reminders

D

David

I created a recurring task with a reminder for something I do every
day.

When the reminder is displayed, I press Dismiss but I never get a
reminder again (I should get one at the same time next day)

Also, if Outlook is not running I would like to see all the reminders
for tasks and appointments that I've missed when it restarts but this
doesn't happen.

Any suggestions?

I'm using outlook XP (2002)

Thanks

1. Don't dismiss it, snooze it for 1 day to be reminded again.
2. Outlook will pop-up missed reminders that have not been dismissed when
it opens. Based on your first statement, you have dismissed, not snoozed
the reminders so they will not appear.

Outlook needs to be running for reminders to fire...

look at the task in the task folder - was a new one created?

Thanks, Milly

However, it would be a pain to do that for every recurring task.

I have some tasks monthly, some weekly, some every few weeks.

I would have to know when the next occurence is due for each to snooze
it for the correct time. Doesn't this defeat the objective of having
recurring tasks??

Also, for tasks every 6 months, there doesn't seem to be any way to
snooze it for 6 months...

1. Don't dismiss it, snooze it for 1 day to be reminded again.
2. Outlook will pop-up missed reminders that have not been dismissed when
it opens. Based on your first statement, you have dismissed, not snoozed
the reminders so they will not appear.

Then why not use appoinments? You can drag/drop your tasks to an appontment
window and create recuring items there.

Thanks - appts do work 'as expected' but tasks are easier to find and
manage. For example if I want to find out when my phone needs
recharging, I would need to look through the calendar (Find makes it a
bit easier) but tasks make it very easy to locate.

Will change for a while and see how things go...

I appreciate your helpful responses.

Thanks - yes the task has been created OK

If OL is not running I know the reminder will not be sent, but I do
want to see them when it next starts.

For example, if I've missed 3 daily tasks I want to see 3 reminders
when OL starts

Outlook needs to be running for reminders to fire...

look at the task in the task folder - was a new one created?

Recurring tasks are not created until the previous one is dismissed.

OK - thanks. I'm learning lots!

However, when I dismiss a recurring task, any new recurring task that
is created does not have a reminder set. This means I never get
reminded after the first one.

Recurring tasks are not created until the previous one is dismissed.
