recurring appoints not sending reminders?

Hi -

When I create an appointment in Outlook 2003 and set an appropriate
reminder interval, I get a reminder right away. E.g. it's 1PM now, I
create an appointment at 2PM, set the reminder for 4 hours, I get the
first reminder right away.

If I do the exact same thing, but set the appointment as recurring (any
recurrence interval - let's say weekly), I do not get the initial
reminder *at all*. (I'm not sure if I'll get any reminder next week
though).

Why should making an appointment recurring affect whether the first
reminder gets triggered? That's the only difference between the
appointment creation that I can see.

I've been using Klemens' neat outlook plug-in
(http://www.wap2web.de/ol2wap.aspx) for dumping the calendar regularly
then extracting from the WML, and it also is not seeing recurring
appointments.

I suspect the same root cause.

Need a solution! Missing meetings!

thanks - shb

Hi there!
I assume your recurrent appointment is located in your default Calendar
folder? Please note that reminders only work for this folder only.

Suggestion:
Please quit MS Outlook and then try out the following from Start-Run in
Windows:

Outlook.exe /cleanfreebusy

then try out if the above solved the problem, please.

Best regards,
Robert

I would have suggested /cleanreminders. I'm not sure how /cleanfreebusy
would affect this problem.

Actually, that was my idea as well, but I think my brain had some reference
problem at the moment when I replied :p

Thanks for pointing that out, Brian!

Thanks, but that doesn't seem to help. I tried these and a variety of
ones I read elsewhere - including using /resetfolders, /cleanreminders
and /cleanfreebusy. It does not seem to have any positive or negative
effect on seeing the initial reminder.

It's really puzzling. It's very reproducible (I tried it on several
colleagues machines) and it would seem that people are not getting
reminders on recurring meetings, which I would think would be a very
visible bug.

1) create an appointment X hours in advance, set remindering interval
X*2 hours ---> get a reminder instantly
2) do the exact same thing, but mark the appointment as recurring
(weekly) ---> no reminder whatsoever.
