Repairing XP install

After running some ad scrubbing and bot software, it appears the winlogon.exe or msgina.dll have been corrupted. If I choose the option to REPAIR an XP install, rather than install a fresh copy (using the INstall CD supplied) will I loose all my data files, or will it simply copy the XP files over?

Hello
You can do a repair install and all your files should be just fine, it is
always a good idea to back-up important files just incase something should
go wrong.
