You need to go to the Control Panel, select 'Add or Remove Programs'. Now
you check the box 'Show Updates'. Scroll down to the 'Windows XP - Software
Updates' heading and click on 'Windows Media Player 10', click
'Change/Remove' to uninstall.

Note:

If you still have problems uninstalling, you can download, install & run
'Windows Installer CleanUp Utility' from
http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301
You will then need to reinstall WMP 10.

Try this.
Open WMP10, and go to tools/options/performance. Near the bottom there
should be advanced. Click on that and check your video acceleration settings.
I fixed my problem by unticking "use high quality mode".
