Repair Option

Does the repair option from the XP disc revert back to whatever service
packs are on the disc or just find and repair whatever it finds wrong? Just
wondering if I have to do it if I'll have to download all the updates all
over again.

A Repair Installation leaves Windows with only the update and Service Packs
on the installation CD.

As for "whatever it finds wrong", since the later updates are not on the CD,
they can be seen by the Repair Installation process as "wrong", since there
would be nothing other than the CD for the Repair Installation to use for
verification.

Hi

Yes, you will need to go to Windows Update after a 'Repair' install of XP.
You will have to look out for a possible problem. Which version of XP are
you running now and which version XP CD do you have?

I have XP Pro SP2 running now. The CD I have doesn't even have SP1 on it.

Thx Will I'm browsing that site now downloading what I needed and I'm gonna
try to slipstream SP2 onto a disc!

Well it started good. I went to the link below and installed nLite. When I
ran it it said it needed .NET Framework before it would work. I went back
to the same link and used the .NET download link they provided to download
and install the .NET Framework. After a reboot nLite is still telling me I
need .NET before it will run so I guess it's not gonna work after all :-(
Is there any other way to slipstream that doesn't need nLite or .NET? I'm
not sure which isn't actually working as they both installed with no
problems.

Third times a charm. Apparently the link to the .NET download isn't the
most current version of .NET so I found and installed the most current
version and now nLite is able to start. I'll see if I can get it to go all
the way next. Thx for the link and the help Will!

Hi

Glad all is OK. Windows Update should have given you the latest version of
..NET.
