When HP sent me my computer it had already been set up. The
main system folder is called HP Customer (cmd= C:\Documents
and Settings\HP Customer> ). I want to rename the HP
Customer folder because that is making my computer log-on
default the name HP Customer. Is there any way to do this
without a full install of XPPro? I do not want to spend 2
days getting my system back up to date with patches and
other software installs. Any suggestions would be great. I
have tried renaming it and I get "HP Customer is a Windows
System Folder and is required for Windows to run properly.
It can not be renamed or moved." I'm thinking I may be able
to rename it in DOS or a command prompt, but I'm gonna have
my friend help me with that if there aren't any better
suggestions.

Beyond this post I have successfully changed the name of
the User in Comp Management (Admin Tools), but my default
name still shows up as HP Customer in the Log On screen.
I'm getting close though

Log in as Admin and either rename the User or delete it.

That is not the 'system' folder, it is a User Account which they have
setup as a default one.

Go to Control Panel - User accounts and make a new account to use,
making it an Administrator one (at least initially). Once logged in as
that, copy any files/folders out of the HP Customer one into your new
Documents and Settings\you at the corresponding places. Where there
is a folder with a name like S-1-21-. . . copy contents into the
corresponding S-1 folder in your account

Once you have things working smoothly in this new account you will be
able to delete the HP one
