This started out as not very important, but now it's
become a mission! I simply, no matter what I have tried,
cannot rename the recycle bin on Windows XP Home. This
is what I have tried:

Ran Regedit/HKEY_CURRENT
USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current
Version\Explorer\CLISD\645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-
00AA002F954E Clicked on last one to open sub keys on
right, clicked "default" to open the modify window, typed
in a name for the bin & clicked "ok". Right clicked on
desktop, clicked refresh. No luck. Also tried clicking
on desktop & F9. No luck.
Also tried the Tweak that TweakXP.com recommends
without any success. I can make the folder they suggest
in my notepad, save it to a folder in my documents, but
when I try to import it into the registry by choosing yes
on the window that comes up, I a get a window that
appears telling me that a .reg file cannot be stored if
it is not in binary code. So far, everything everyone
has suggested seems logical, but I can't get it to work.
If anyone has any ideas, I sure would appreciate them.

That worked for me.
Did you reboot or did you logoff the current user, in order to "reread" the
registry values ??.

I did reboot, but I didn't log off the current user as I
am the only user of this pc. Should I have?

Thank you! I'll give it a shot in the morning. Sure
hope it works. If it doesn't I'll be back. Subject of
my post will be (Extremely Frustrated!) Even if I don't
have any luck, thanks for trying.
Blessings.

Try instead a simple click on the desktop and hit F5 to do the refresh -
a rather deeper level, that should work. Also see a post I made to an
earlier one of yours - I find it does not stick, and have a registry
patch that needs to be run, followed by that F5, because something else
has made the key referred to. This to name it 'Retriever' - adjust to
taste

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache]
"@C:\\WIN95\\system32\\SHELL32.dll,-8964"="Retriever"
