renaming pictures

i9 know this sounds stupid to you but i am in need of an
answer. how do i rename pictures taken off internet?? i
always get an error message saying that picture will
become unusable if changed before with windowsME i could
just right click the picture and rename. ????????????????

What makes it unstable is if you do not put file extension
back on the end of name (.jpg) otherwise change all of the
name just put extension back on you should have no
problems.
