Hello,

I was trying to network two computers and noticed that one had a crazy name.
I thought, "that's silly, I'll just change it to my name." After doing so
and restarting, I realized all my files were gone. It was as if I was
starting Windows for the first time. All my programs were still there, but
all my files were gone.
This was all done in the Network Identification Tab of the System option in
the Control Panel. I selected Properties and changed the name. Then bam!

Can I get my computer back to the way it was?

Thanks for your help!

The profile is now orphaned. It may be easiest to copy over the parts you
need (desktop shortcuts, favorites, etc.) from the orphaned profile. Use the
import function of your email software.

I think you are probably right about being orphaned. Unfortunately, I don't
see how to import as you suggest. I can't see any of my old files, etc, from
the import function. Can you be more specific?
Thanks,

Zac

The steps for import depend on your mail software. The files , shortcuts,
etc. can just be copied.
