Removing win98 from dual boot

Just got back my old win98SE PC for free. Someone added XP Home to it and
set it up for dual boot. XP is the default. I've spent a lot of time
uninstalling such items as AOL, Earthlink, Yahoo, etc. and win98 only boots,
sometimes; to a screen resolution of 640 x 480. No other choices under
properties but I don't want to mess with it anyway. XP seems fine. The PC is
going to be donated to a student and I would just as soon delete/remove
win98 and just run XP. Any special things I should do prior? Do I just go
into Control Panel and remove win98? Thanks, Steve T.

I would think you are dealing with an ethical situation here, you didn't pay
for the xp install, and don't have xp media legal license how can you think
it's ok to give it away, to someone??? this is not right.
I would think you need to wipe the xp install before you give away the pc
and of course supply the remaining os media to the person you give the pc to.

removing one of the OS you need to open the boot.ini and remove the entry
for one of the OS. one being default has nothing to do with anything, the
default OS can change with a simple edit of the boot.ini
go to start run msconfig select the boot.ini tab and edit the entries, and
or remov an entry then save and exit

Why would automatically think the XP "HOME" was not legit? Do you have a
crystal ball? Because there was not enough details given to suggest it was
not a legit installation. If it was VL "Corporate" version, then yes it
would not be in compliance with the XP EULA.

Thanks Michael. I sold this PC over a year ago and have no clue as to it's
history since it left my hands. Deleting the XP automatically seemed
overkill. It does have other programs installed on it that I know nothing
about (MS Works, Calendar Creator, etc), should I be expected to just delete
these too? Maybe I should just format the HD and start over? All I'm doing
is passing on the PC to a needy student. Didn't realize I would be violating
ethics. Thanks again, Steve T.

Someone added XP Home to
seems to me this statement says he doesn't know how xp got there, that's how
the idea it's not legit, can you not read? or do you just enjoy insulting
others.?
