Hi, how do I go about doing a clean install of XP? I tried just inserting the
installation CD but the option to install XP was greyed out. Do I need to
boot from the CD, or what?

You need to boot from the XP cd to do a clean install of XP.

Thanks a lot, I tried that and it worked...even though it was difficult to
get all the drivers for my wireless card and everything else back. Thank god
I have a second PC that i could access the internet on.

what cd did you have the one that came with your computer. was it xp sp1 or
xpsp2
