removing tenacious unwanted links.

Having tried the few deletion acts I know of, nothing so
far will remove about 5 adult and similar type
unrequested "link" items from the desktop.I have deleted
them succesfully a few times then emptied the trash with
them in it and still they come bouncing back with great
persistance and arrogance. Any help from this font of
wisdom would be GREATLY appreciated.

Check to be sure they aren't listed in Start/Run/Msconfig/Startup and here:
If so, delete them:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace
