Can someone tell me how to remove the Symantec LiveUpdate applet from the
Control Panel. Can't do it using TweakUI. Thanks!

You remove it by going to Control Panel >Add or Remove Programs and scroll
down ot "Live Update". Click on Change/Remove and remove it. Then in the
control panel click on Veiw>Refresh and you'll see that it's gone.

If you mean that the icon has been left as a remnant, then IIRC it's
produced by a file of the form 'LUPD***.CPL' somewhere in the system folder.

Bascally, .CPL files produce most (but not all) of these additional
control-panel icons.

If it is not in Add/Remove Programs, check on Symantec's web site and get the
enhanced Norton removal tool(s).
