removing soundtrack from PP

M

Mike

Greetings to all,.

Ive created a powerpoint pres, using a soundtrack that has
a size of 44mb. This will not play on older laptops so,
ive now compressed it to mp3 which gives the soundtrack at
3.5mb - ideal for this laptop, however, trying to remove
the original soundtrack is the problem. Although i delete
the sound icon and resave the file, its still well over
44mb. The original file before the soundtrack went in was
2.6mb. How can i get this file size back to before the
sound was included ?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions..

Regards

Mike

Mike,
Let's try the simplest thing first: DO you have Fast Saves turned on? Go to
Tools--> Options--> Save tab and uncheck the box for Fast Saves. Now, resave
the file under a new name. Did the file size shrink the way you wanted it
to?

HI Kathy

Thanks for the reply..

Tried as you suggested but PP insists on saving the file
as 44mb still, even as a new file. Doesnt play the
soundtrack though, ... Must admit that im at a loss..#
Ive tried to edit, select all the pages, (with the
soundtrack not included) and paste them to a different
file too.. still no joy...

Okay - let's try something else. I am wondering if the sound files are
attached somewhere else. Do a save as HTML on the file. Does the resulting
folder have any sound files in it?
