Audio problem

My computer crashed. I had to reformat and reinstall everything. I had
backup on an external USB hard drive in DriveImage 7 format. I had several
versions of a PPT program with audio files on each slide that, after playing
its audio, went to the next slide with audio, and after playing audio, went
to next slide. Etc. I had saved them as PPS for playing.

The only version that was recovered intact was the one where I had converted
the mp3 files to wave and imbeded them. That one works.

The versions with mp3 audio attached and included, when played with PPT
viewer.. do not sound the audio and click rapidly through the slides.
However, if I open the PPS file with the PowerPoint (2000) and click on
Slide Show it does play the audio and times each slide to appear after the
previous audio completes.

Any ideas on how to resave my mp3 audio presentations so they work when
played using PPT Viewer?

FWIW. I had several folders containing both the PPS file and the mp3 audios
which, when recovered from backup were contaminated and didn't work. I
copied the mp3 audios from the good folder and pasted them into the
contaminated folders. The mp3 audios, when contaminated started the voice,
then kept repeating portions. After the overwrite they individually play
OK. (But even in the folder that had the good mp3 audios, the PPS file when
played with PPT Viewer, ignored the audio and clicked straight through the
slides. But, again, if I open the PPS file in PPT program and choose Slide
Show it plays with audio and the audio timing.

Help!
