This might be a little verbose...sorry. Any help would be greatly
appreciated!

I had Win2000 Pro installed on my PC. I left my PC on overnight and the next
day I had a jushed.exe virus ( have broadband so I don't usually leave my PC
on unless I'm using it).. Actually, I don't think it installed itself, but I
could not boot.

I had purchased WinXP Pro but had yet to upgrade to it, so I got the
brilliant idea to install it (the othe home pc I did install XP on was
unaffected by the virus so I though that XP was more resistant to the
virus).

So, since I could not boot into Win2000 to do an upgrade, I stupidly
installed XP along side 2000 (thinking it was upgrading) so I ended up with
2 OS loaded on the same drive. The new install worked fine except I had none
of my drivers, programs, or anything else I use daily (of course since it is
a full install, not an upgrade...doh!). At the screen at boot up where it
asked me which OS I wanted to load, I selected Win2000, it loaded fine. I
found the virus file and deleted it as per instructions on a webpage so I
don't think that is a problem anymore.

I then decided to make things worse (I didn't know at the time) by
inserting the XP disk and upgrading 2000 to XP ( thought it would somehow
recognize WinXP as WinXP and fix the multiple OS problem). It seemed to work
fine during the install process. I then rebooted...and got a screen that
asked me to make a choice between Windows XP Professional and Windows XP
Professional. I selected the top one and it would not load properly. I tried
loading it in safe mode and it loaded. This was the upgraded 2000, so I had
all my icons, drivers, profiles, programs, and files.

I then rebooted and selected the bottom choice and got the new install of
XP. It loaded fine, but I had none of my stuff since it is a clean install.
I can access files and programs through Windows Explore.

There is a Windows folder on the C: drive and a WinNT folder on the C:
drive. Does this mean the upgrade attempt failed? Shouldn't the NT folder be
overwritten by XP?

Well, what I want is for the "new" install to be deleted and my upgrade
install to work properly. I don't want to have to reinstall all of my
software and drivers and settings etc.

If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it!
