removing machine from a network

I recently purchased a used machine (from home)that has
win 2000. I put in a modem and disabled the network card
and the machine is acting strangely. It will not let me
click on links within an email message or web page. I
have gotten a few network error messages. I was
wondering if it is due to it no longer being on a
network? Can anyone tell me how to let this machine know
that it is no longer part of a network.
 
2000 IS REALLY FUNNY ABOUT USER PROFILES TRY CREATING YOUR
SELF A NEW ACCOUNT WITH ADMIN RIGHTS.
