removing items from all programs list

How do I remove items(shortcuts) from the All Programs menu list in my kid's
limited user account so that they cannot access certain programs without
removing the items(shortcuts) in my account? I did it once before to remove
access to IE from their account, but I don't remember how I did it. I use
XP-SP2

Log on in your kid's limited user account
Open the Start Menu
Right click the item(s) you want to remove
Select Delete
Click Yes to the prompt

The Start Menu is a combination of two folders..
%allusersprofile%\Start Menu (For All Users. Everyone that is looged on
sees the entries from this folder)
and
%userprofile%\Start Menu (For the currently logged on user.) I.e.
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\Start Menu

If you remove an item from your kid's limited user account Start Menu it
should have no affect on you when you are logged in as you.

If you remove an item from the All Users Start Menu you may be removing an
item that you want there for yourself.

Wesley answered your specific question, but let me add a comment. A shortcut
on the Start menu is just one of several ways to access a program. Removing
a shortcut doesn't really stop anyone from doing anything. You don't say how
old your kid is, but even if he knows no other way but the shortcut now, he
will probably learn others soon.

Ah, kids, they do learn quickly. :)

Thanks so much for the advice, and yes, it did help. I had tried
right-clicking, but access was denied. I saw the reference to the All User's
Start Menu, went there, and moved the files in question to my start
menu/programs file. Now the items are only on my All Programs List.
Fortunately, my kids are young enough not to know how to go looking
elsewhere(for now). I simply didn't want them on the net without having to
get on my password protected account or accidently change any of my programs
by mistake. Thanks again for the info
