Removing grid lines from template

Once I create my document within a Microsoft Office word template how do I
save the document outside of the template so the gridelines do not show? I'm
saving the document but the template gridlines are still showing up on my
saved document.
 
Is the template in the form of a table? If so, these are table gridlines,
which can be toggled with Table | Show/Hide Gridlines (or the corresponding
control on the Table Tools Design tab in Word 2007).
