I am a novice computer user and downloaded 'Cometcursor'
to change my pointer/browser. Now I have discovered that
it is a tool the site owners are using to gather
information about me. How do I completely eradicate them
from having access to my personal information? and off of
my computer entirely?

You have spyware running on your computer!

Visit http://spybot.eon.net.au/index.php?lang=en&page=start
and download the Spybot utility program and then run it.

Then install the free Google Toolbar. It does a good job of blocking
pop-ups!

Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. In this windows look for the word
Comet, select it and click on Remove.

FYI, there is a program on the internet called Ad Aware (don't know the site
name) that removes Spy ware. You'll be surprised how much is on your PC.

If you check in the control panel under Add Remove
Programs there should be a listing there for it. Click
on Remove and follow any prompts you get. But wait
that's not all. Silly programers that wrote it have the
uninstall only take out part of the program. What you'll
need to get is a neat little utility called Ad-a-ware.
There is a free version of it that you can download that
will find the little nasties that are left behind and
check for anything else that might be lurking on your
PC. To get it go to Lavasoft.de and follow the
instructions to get the utility.

Go to www.lavasoftusa.com and get AdAware. Run it, then when it reports
a slew of nasties it has found, select the lot *except* one for Alexa
and delete them. Comet Cursor will be prominent among them
