Removing cover : Epson Colour Stylus 600

Hi,

The controler ribbon cable on my Epson Stylus 600 had parted company
from the print head. To replace/refix it I need to remove the top
cover. Which seems to require me to remove the print head assembly.
Help please: 1. Can I remove the top cover without removing the
print head assembly? 2. Any hints on removing and then replacing the
print head assembly. I am an ex electronics technician but do not
have a workshop manual for the printer.
