Removing Background From JPEGs and GIFS

M

Martin*

Hello!

Up until recently, I had a number of JPEGs and non-animated GIFS, each with
its own white background. When they were on my web pages which were also
white in colour, the background of the JPEGs and GIFs blended with the white
background of the pages. The result was that only the images were obvious,
whereas their white backgrounds were not.

Now that I'm using a light grey background for my web pages, the images'
white backgrounds are obvious.

Does anyone know of an app that I can use or webpage that I can access that
will remove the background of my images so that they can appear on my web
pages without their white backgrounds?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Martin

The only way I can think of is re-make the Animated Gif.. Export the
sequence of files and one by one use Harms Tiles to save a transparent GIF
then re-build the Animated Gif..

Not sure if there is a website out there that will do this, or any other
apps that will automate it for you..

Good Luck

You can use Irfanview (www.Irfanview.com) for some limited
transparency effects.

When saving (for example) the GIF, you'll need to specify which
colour is to be transparent.

Limited, but that was enough when I was doing this for my site.

What are you using for an html editor.

Hello,

With regard to the hosting space provided, it's pre-configured with some
HTML. Due to the pre-configuration, it cannot support third-party web page
creation software, such as Dreamweaver, as it would conflict with the HTML
provided by default. I'm limited to using the HTML that the company makes
available.

So, I don't use any HTML editor. I use Notepad for text, and then copy and
paste the contents onto my web pages.
