Removeing white box around image in Powerpoint

Hi everyone

I have inserted a .jpeg company logo image onto a blue background slide and
I want to remove the white square box around the image so only the logo
appears. Is there a way I can remove this in PowerPoint? I have tried
changing to gif and tif but the white box still appears. I have tried right
clicking onto the image to 'Format Picture' and clicked on 'Fill' and it
indicates that there is 'no fill' but doesn't remove the white background.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Version of PPT would have been nice to know.

2003 or earlier, on the picture toolbar click on the set transparent color
(which should be the next to the last icon) then click on the white space
around the logo. If it is truly the same shade of white it should now blend
in with the background.

2007 Click the picture that you want to create transparent areas in. Under
Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Adjust group, click Recolor, Set
Transparent Color then the color you want transparent.

Let us know if this helps or does what you want.
