I had Windows 2000 and installed Windows XP. I now have a
choice of which Windows OS I want to use when I reboot.
How can I get rid of Windows 2000 altogether?

I'm obviously far removed from being considered a "Techie".

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,

Fortunately, you don't need to be a techie to do this.

a) Boot WinXP, open Windows Explorer. Locate the Win2000 system folders and
delete them.

b) Start/run msconfig, go to the boot.ini tab and select the line that loads
WinXP (you can only select lines that load [operating systems] entries).
Click "set as default". If "set as default" is grayed-out when it is
selected, then it already is the default. Close msconfig.

c) Start/run C:\boot.ini, remove the line from the [operating systems]
section that loads Win2000 (this would be the other line that you saw in
msconfig). Click file/exit and "yes" to save changes. You're done.
