I opened my device manager and there is nothing in it. Wouldn't all my
devices be listed?

go up to "view"

and specify "list devices by type"
 
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment]

Value Name: DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES
Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
Value Data: (1 = show all hidden devices)
Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.
