Removed REGISTRY file (stupidly)

John

I removed the vgasave registry file (long complicated
story as to why), and I've tried all the other
troubleshooting methods to get windows back on track
(starting in safe mode, in vga mode, last good config
mode, etc.). Nothing. Either boots to black or hangs.

Here's the deal. I copied EXACTLY what I removed to
a .reg file on a different hard drive. So I'm able to
boot up from the alternate, working drive. I'm trying to
add the missing registry file back into the original
registry on the non-working drive (I know exactly where
it goes), but every time I use REGEDIT, it pulls up the
working drive's registry--i.e. the wrong registry.

Any help?

Hey guys!

Thanks so much. Dave's advice worked! KB 307545 did the
trick. Tedious, but effective. Thanks, Dave!!!!
