I want to remove xp pro because it does not work with some of my
applications, and go back to 2000 pro. Could someone tell me the step
by step instructions?
Thanks

The Windows 2000 CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary
to partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow
Windows 2000 to partition and format your drive:

1. Open your BIOS and set your CD Drive as the first bootable device.
2. Insert your Windows 2000 CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to delete the existing
Windows partitions, then create a new partition, then format the primary
partition (preferably NTFS) and proceed to install Windows 2000.

Have you tried running them in Compatibility Mode?
(Right click on the Icon, choose Properties and go to the Compatibility Tab)

There is no way to do this other than by reformatting and
installing 2000 cleanly; there is no downgrade path supported.

To do this, boot from the 2000 CD, and follow the prompts.

However note that it's a very rare program that will work on
Windows 2000 but not on XP. I suspect that something else is
wrong, rather than that XP won't work with your programs. If you
want to pursue this possibility, please identify the programs
here, and explain exactly what happens when you try to use them.
If you get an error message, please quote it verbatim.

Greetings --

Simply boot from the Win2K installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and/or format the system partition as
part of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
