Remove Windows XP Games

I would like to completely remove Windows XP games. I have used the
procedure shown in the Microsoft Support site but this procedure only removes
the shortcuts in the Programs menu and the Internet games. The executables
etc are still on the hard drive for Pinball, Solitaire, Spider, Freecell and
Hearts. Is there a way to completely uninstall these games?

Thanks for any help - it is much appreciated,
Alex

No, Alex, there isn't. They are system files. Try removing one, remember
what you removed, then reboot the system and look for the file again.
They're small and don't take up much space.

I really would love to know why these are "system" files. Like that damn
xerox folder that cant be deleted but is empty.

Because Microsoft did it that way. For every post in this newsgroup asking
how to remove the built-in games, we probably get 15 or 20 asking how to put
them back.

What Xerox folder? Do you or did you have a Xerox printer? I've checked
three computers here, and don't have a Xerox folder on any of them.

Thanks Chris.

The reason I want to remove them is because staff members are finding the
executables and playing the games. They should NOT be doing this. I guess
we could just erase the executables but I don't like leaving bits lying
around...messy!

Locate the files, and make them hidden. What sort of accounts do these
people have? If they're part of Admin, you've basically given them rights
to alter anything on the machine. You may want to look into group policies
(not my strong point) and see if you can't place the files off limits.

How have you got your system setup security wise?

If it's just a standalone machine (not using a domain), turn off simple file
sharing/ in Tools / Folder Options / View.

This will open up the security tag if you go to the properties on the
programmes you don't want them to have access to, then simply remove read &
execute and write access for the affected users or groups.
