I have tried going to control panel, clicking user accounts however there are
no accounts that appear. Then I went through my computer, clicked Manage but
there was not an option for local users and group node. What next?

local users and groups is only for XP Pro not the Home edition.

Delete a user account with XP Home or Pro.

You can delete a user account from User Accounts in the Control panel.

Control Panel | User Accounts

1. Click Change an account in the Pick a task list box.
2. Click the account that you want to change.
3. Select the item that you would like to change:
Click Delete the account to delete the user account from the computer. When
you delete the account, you are given the option to save the user's files on
the computer.

Note: You can not delete the account for a user that is currently logged on
to the computer.

You also cannot delete your own account, you have to log on as another
administer to delete your own account. Kind of a nice feature if you think
about it.
