Remove US English from MS Office?

I need to remove US English from MS Office completely or at least from Word. My Regional settings (W2K) are set to Canadian French and English, US removed. My default English in Word is English CAN but everytime I do a spellcheck or grammar check it selects English US. Sometimes it will select English US over French CAN for french words

I have tried setting the default Langange in Normal.dot to English CAN, but not go. US is persistant like a worm or virus. Is there a way to remove US English from the list of defaults completely?

This is not a solution.
In the UK, I can set the default language to English UK BUT with
Insert | Index and Tables, the Language setting always defaults to
English US. Can this be removed also?

The default language used by Word is controlled primarily by the regional
settings of Windows - which by default will be US English - so that is the
first place to check.
