Remove the "Do not check spelling option" in word 2003

I keep removing the "do not check spelling or grammer option" in Microsoft
Word 2003, but it keeps comming back on. I have done this line by line word
by word. Please help.

To affect new documents, you may need to make this change in Normal.dot. To
do it for an entire document, Ctrl+A before changing the setting.
