remove ie6?

is there any way I can remove ie6 so that I may reload it (have it on cd)?
Right now I can't connect to the internet because of some virus that
disabled my ie6.
I tried loading Netscape, but that didn't work, so I thought if I reload
ie6, perhaps that would fix it long enough to enable me to use another
browser.
When I try to load the ie6 from the cd, it wont allow it because I have a
newer version on the pc.
I'm running Winxp.
Thanks to all.

This may help..
If you lost your Internet connection after removing spy-ware
(such as NewDotNet, and Commonname) the following steps will help
restore your connection. This works for Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP.

1.) Download WinsockFix.zip. (by: Option^Explicit)

2.) UnZip WinsockFix.zip
3.) Run WinsockFix.exe.
4.) Click the Fix button.

This program will clean up your TCP/IP connection and rebuild the
database.
After the program is complete, reboot

Thanks, Ricky, it seems to have worked....saved me from having to format the
whole @##$%% thing just to have the internet again.

I have the same problem. Did you find a fix for the
problem? If so I could use some advise. Thanks Niles
