IE6 freezes

I have had trouble with IE6 for about a month now. I have attempted to
reload but am told I have a newer version, so it won't load. I tried to load
IE7 beta, but it fails to load, as well. I have had to load Firefox - it is
much more user friendly, so I guess I will stay with it for now. I have
already spent too much time trying to repair IE6. It is a shame, because I
have used it since Microsoft 3.0 (I think that was the designation).

Hi Dr. Bob :)

You don't tell us the version of Windows you are using, but, I will assume
it is XP. You also do not tell us the nature of your problem, provide any
details such as any error messages, what you are trying to do when this
problem occurs, etc. There can be various reasons for your problem,
including malware, parasites, etc.

Your problem with repairing/reinstalling your IE is easy to remedy, however,
it is not the cause of the problem. And, if it is malware, Trojans, or
other warez, it will not resolve the problem, as a repair or reinstall will
not get rid of the scumware on your system.

While Firefox may allow you to surf the web fine, as you obviously have
Windows, you will need to have IE working in order to update the program.
So, if you are really looking for help with the problem, rather than just
voicing a complaint, then post back here with some details and we will do
our best to help. :)

Hope this helps.

Jan,
I am running XP sp2. There is no error message, it just freezes as it is
loading. I was ultimately able to load the beta 2 version of MSIE7, but it
does the exact same thing. I have run my virust check and Microsoft's
anti-spyware; they don't seem to be the problem either. Firefox loads
perfectly and so far is running fine. I do recognize the problem with
updates, and I have always used MSIE, so I am very comfortable with it. Any
help would be appreciated. Thanks for your response.

Frank,
I have run microsoft's anti spyware, as well as 2 others. They find
nothing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your kind response.
