Remove domain controller

Hi

In our environment we have a mixed DC of 2000 and 2003.

Recently I have transferred all the FSMO roles to a 2003
DC. Now I like to demote one of the 2000 DC, but I get
the following error:

Failed finding a suitable domain controller for the domain
abc.com
"the specified domain either does not exist or could not
be contacted"

And I also had a look at the Active Directory Schema from
the DC that I try to demote, it shown that the Schema
Master is offline.

Can anyone please give me a suggestion on how to demote
this 2000 DC. It would be much appreciated with all you
help.

It must be something about DNS configuration of the DC you're demoting. Make
sure it is using correct DNS server (that would be most likely the DNS
server running on your new W2k3 DC).

Yes, you were right about the DNS Server.
