Removal Help

I just discovered I have the Backdoor.Berbew.F virus on my computer. Can anyone please tell me how to remove it? I have McAfee Virus Scan but it has not been working ever since I got this virus so I can't update or scan. I discovered the virus by scanning using the free Symantec scan suggested in a previous post. The removal instructions sounded like I would need to subcribe to Symantec, which I don't really want to do since I already pay for McAfee. Any suggestions for removing this virus? Thanks.

Did you try reinstalling the McAfee on top of itself to get it working?
