My removable harddrive is a plug-in-play. The usb port is fine, the wire is
working, the drive is getting power, the computer acknowledges the device,
and the drive works on other computers still. The computer says it's
installed but the drive no longer pulls up as a new drive to acess under the
'my computer" screen. It use to but now it doesn't. Why? how do i change it?

Usually this is a symptom of a system with no designated C: drive.
Alternatively, you might have copied the root folder of some CD to the root
of that drive, including the files to 'autostart' which must be removed to
show the drive.

Go to Computer Management and assign the removable drive with a drive
letter.

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management

Locate and right-click the removable drive to select "Change Drive letters
and path". Give the drive a Drive letter.
