remote shutdown

i'm trying to shutdown a computer remotely by using the
shutdown command.this is he command

shutdown -s -f -m \\ip address

but after a while it states that access is denied.why is
this happening?it's using the same workgroup name.i need
help how to shutdown remotely by only using command cuz
i'm working in a computer lab right.it's hard to shutoff
he computers manually.
