Remote Printing

D

Don

I am connecting from a Windows XP pro client to a Windows
XP pro terminal services desktop. On the client I have a
local USB printer installed. When I logon to the client
as administrator and establish a VPN connection to my
remote desktop, my local USB printer IS available.
However, when I logon to the client as a standard user
and then establish my remote connection my local USB
printer is NOT available.

I also have a local printer connected to the client via
LPT1. This printer is available from my remote desktop
regardless of what login is signed onto the client.

Any suggestions would be appreciated...
Don

That's very interesting!
(don't want to get your hopes up, though--not at all sure I can make
anything useful of it in the end.)
What's your bottom line--I take it you'd prefer to run as standard user at
the client end?

Is this a USBxxx port (properties of the printer, ports tab) rather than a
DOT4 port?

I take it that when working locally, the USB-connected printer is available
without any issue to the standard user?

What make/model printer is this--and are you on the latest driver version?

Are there any event log entries of note, at either end of the connection,
that differ between connections by the two types of users?
