Remote outlook via vpn

D

daniel

Hi All

Please can someone advise.

We have several client notebooks on a SBS2003 server that can use a VPN
connection to the server over broadband or dialup and Outlook 2003 connects
OK.

One client can connect via the VPN but Outlook will not connect. As far as I
can tell they are all configured much the same. All are new good spec
notebooks running XP pro.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Daniel.

What kind of name resolution is in use? WINS, passed along to the VPN
client? Your internal DNS server, also passed along to the VPN client? Can
they ping the Exchange server by name?

Have you looked into trying RPC over HTTP(s) instead? It's allegedly tricky
to set up but can work really well.

... i'll check the name resolution, although i cannot see that detail on the
connect to sbs status properties. They can see their user folder on the
server if that helps.

I'm having pretty much the same issue. Some users are
connected on cable, some on DSL all using Cisco VPN
client software. This is a very random issue. I
personally had the issue until I moved and got a
different cable provider. My network guy and I tried to
find anything on the VPN side, but were unsuccessful. If
anyone has any other ideas on this, it would be greatly
appreciated.
