Remote Desktop

We have users that I work with that would like to connect
to their machine's or the server from home. Do I need to
setup terminal services or can I setup remote desktop?
All of our computers are XP. I know we can connect to
anyone from within our network, but how do we do it from
home. Do they need the outside IP address and if so
where can I set that up in Remote Desktop? Please help.
